TAbout the ACCC
he Australian Confrater-
nity of Catholic Clergy is
a private, voluntary and fraternal association of Catholic bishops, priests and deacons of the dioceses of Australia. The ACCC is constituted in conformity with the Code of Canon Law: “Secular cler- gy have the right of association with others for the achievement of pur- poses be tting the clerical state.” (Can 278 § 1)
Our fraternity helps members build up each other in the grace of their vocation. It hopefully increases the wider ourishment of authen- tic living and exercise of vocations among bishops, priests and deacons, and attracts younger men to consider a vocation to the Sacred Ministry.
Overseas members
Clergy who are incardinated in an Australian diocese, but who are pres- ently resident abroad, are entitled to ordinary membership. Clergy who belong to the Australian province or district of their religious or secu- lar institute, but who are presently resident abroad, likewise remain en- titled to associate membership. Oth- ers resident outside Australia are in- eligible for membership, but they are welcome to subscribe to The Priest.
The Priest
All members and associate mem- bers receive a print subscription to the ACCC journal. The Priest is usu- ally published twice each year, in winter and in summer. Articles in- clude select papers delivered at the annual conference, and original con- tributions on a range of topics, both scholarly and pastoral.
Inter Nos
Clergy members — both diocesan and religious — also receive a print subscription to the ACCC newsletter.
Inter Nos is usually published twice each year, in Autumn and in Spring. It contains news and announce- ments, and occasionally an article of peculiar interest to clergy.
Annual Conference
Clergy and seminarians are in- vited to attend the ACCC annual conference. This gathering is an op- portunity for formation, prayer and fraternity. Every second year, an in- ternational speaker is invited to pre- sent a keynote address. From time to time, we organise an international gathering of English-speaking Con- fraternities.
Heavenly patrons
The ACCC’s patroness is Our Lady Help of Christians. Other pa- trons are:
• Ss Peter and Paul;
• St Pius X;
• St John Fisher;
• St Thomas More;
• St Jean-Marie Vianney;
• St Charles Borromeo; and • St Mary of the Cross.
Bequests
Have you considered remember- ing the ACCC in your will? A sample form of bequest is as follows:
I bequeath the sum of $$$ to the Australian Confraternity of Catho- lic Clergy ABN 30 270 616 942, the receipted acknowledgement of the Treasurer satisfying this provision.
It is possible to make provision for anniversary Masses to be offered for some years after your death by in- corporating a gift of stipends for this purpose in your bequest. You may also consider bequeathing church valuables such as sacred vessels, vest- ments, liturgical books, and schol- arly books etc. for gifting to young priests.
